Round 3, Saturday November 6.
Asbestos Surveys vs Fielding CC
After our pre match rugby session discussing Craig Dawsons almost disturbing passion for the game and complete inability to handle a rugby ball we decided to get down to business.

Tossing
Antz won the toss and put us into bat. Aaron and Gaz got of to a scratchy start with the Feilding artificial providing tennis ball like bounce. The Feilding bowlers capitalised on their knowledge of their home wicket forcing our batsmen to adjust. This was easier said then done however as both Gaz and Aaron found themselves skying the odd ball but luckily finding gaps in the field. By the 5th over things looked to have settled down with both batsmen finding some control. That was until Aaron almost hit the ball through Gareth Youngs chest at short cover. It didn’t quite go all the way through, and he was out caught, for 18. Antz was next in, but his stay was a short one hitting a boundary before mistiming a glance, out, bowled by Hamish Bennett for 5.
After almost 2 seasons in the wilderness Barry Harlen made his return to the team coming in at number 4. He worked hard on a tricky surface with tight bowling to put together a much needed 34 run partnership before Bazzle came undone trying to go big over the bowlers head, caught by Levi Reay of the bowling of Liam Magill for 14. Thing went south a bit from that point as Craig Trim went early for 4 followed by the big wicket of the steady Gary Francis who was trapped in front LBW by Liam Magill. It was up to Benjamin and Trimmy to see us through to drinks where we were 103 for 6. A good run rate but at the cost of wickets.

Preperations
With 20 overs left in the innings we had to bat some time. The good thing for us is that Trimmy bats the same whatever the plan. So while Benny was trying to steady the ship at one end Trimmy was trying to make it fly at the other. They batted together for 17 overs putting together a 94 run partnership before Benny was out caught behind going for his first dinger of the match. With 5 overs left to bat and 4 wickets remaining and Trimmy in swashbuckling form we had a good platform to launch. Unfortunately, the wicket was not an easy one to start hitting from ball one and after a couple of strapples, Lazerjet was bowled by Jack Delaney. Craig Dawson then came to the crease with eyes of steely determination and a thirst for runs. His stay was short but eventful with a quickfire 15 off 13 including 2 fours. Jack hadn’t finished though. He finally got the wicket of the dangerous Warren Trim, caught by Gareth Young for 77. He then struck again to remove a fiery Craig Dawson. Hamish Bennett finished the innings off taking the wicket of Damien Schilling for 0.
Bloomfield 212/10

Trimmy getting out
Set a target of 213 for the win Feilding couldn’t afford to get bogged down. Ben and Craig Dawson got off to a good start with Ben picking up the wicket of Matt Gordon but then things started to slip away from us. Bryan Hill came to the crease and started to bludgeon the ball to all parts of the ground but the slow outfield robbed him of about 4 deserved boundarys. Eventually he played one shot too many and was caught for 28 by Bazzle at midwicket off Dei Hamo’s (Damian) bowling. Craig Dawson chimed in with the wicket of the impressive Flynn McMillan caught by Gaz for 10. From that point on It was Dei Hamos day. With the run rate climbing every over the Feilding batsmen came to the crease with an aggressive mindset and Dei Hamo took advantage. Connor Purvis was the only remaining Feilding batsman able to reach double digits (33) before he was out caught by CRAIG DAWSON. The rest of the batsmen fell for Feilding to finally end 111/10. Damian finished with career best figures 8 overs, 5 for 36. A big thanks to Feilding for hosting us. You have an awesome set up and always have the BBQ cooking. It's really appreciated.

Accelerate Automotive Bloomfield vs Man-Fox
Coming in to this game the team were surprised to be playing on a grass wicket, the first time this season. Taking note of the fresh greenish pitch Corey won the toss and put Man-Fox in to bat.
Re-living the old days Corey and Chris opened the bowling and set about taking wickets. Chris helping himself to the first wicket with a picture perfect in swinger to bowl Scott McGhie on the third ball of the first over followed up by Corey giving Greg Morrison the chance to catch Scott Finlayson out on first ball of the over. A catch that for most people would be text book but Greg being Greg tried his best to make it look spectacular. At the end of the day it was taken and we had the much-needed wicket of Scott before he had the chance to hit us around the park.
Chris nabbed the wicket of Lucas Kidby in his second over and things were starting to look good. Brendon Munford and Michael Knight spent some time at the crease until Corey got Brendon, caught out by Jason. Zach came in to the attack for a few overs before the heat got to him and he needed a break, in that time he got Michael Knight snicked out to the keeper on 22. The father son combination of Zach and Baz is a force to be reckoned with. Then we welcomed Craig ‘The Destroyer’ Collis to the crease. Martin Obrien did a good job supporting Craig and keeping him on strike until Marty was bowled a questionable full toss that he somehow managed to chop onto the stumps. From there no one really scored any runs but all helped Craig along to finish the innings not out with a well-earned 71 off 98 balls, well batted mate. Man-Fox finishing on 149/9
Wickets were shared amongst the bowlers 2 for Chris, Rowan and Corey and 1 each for Randy, Steven and Zach.

Hello
Batting started off well for us with both openers hanging around and doing their best to get the shine off the ball. Chris was the first to go on 19 after yet again nicking one through to the keeper bringing Corey out to the crease, ready to set an example at number 3, score some runs and have a memorable captains knock, he let one hit his pad square in front of the stumps and was out LBW for a measly 1 run. Jason stayed true to form and came out for a 5-ball duck, stumped. Meanwhile Rowan is stuck at the other end proving the point that he can still bat even without showing up for training. Randy arrived and had people in the vicinity of the park thinking the fireworks were being let off early by cracking a handful of boundaries. Rowan finally went 39 runs closely followed by Randy which allowed Sukh and Baz to form a bit of a partnership both ending on 19. Both Zach and Matt failed to navigate Man-foxs tight bowling and never got started. The real stars of the show were the 2 marshmallows themselves, Greg and Steven. Both having to come to the crease and start scoring from ball 1, they gave it a good shot. Quick singles from these 2 is hard work but they hustled, Greg finished on 11 not out but not before he called Steven through for a super quick single that sent him barrel rolling down the centre of the pitch, taking out the bowler and stumps at the same time bowler attempted to remove the bails with ball. Corey raised the finger, not knowing the logistics of the situation but also thinking he deserved to be out after that commotion.

Steve after decimating the stumps and his teams hopes and dreams.
All in all, it was a hard fight to end which saw us fall short of the target by 5 runs ending in another close loss. Good effort from the lads and a fun day out in the sun. Bring on Marist next week.
