Asbestos Surveys Bloomfield vs Old Boys
Cricket is back and boy was Captain Clifford excited. After his swashbuckling 30 odd runs at Omanuka the week before you could see, he was fizzing to have a go at the Old Boys bowlers. So, he won the toss and chose to bowl.
Gaz who has been bowling rubbish all season decided over Christmas that he wanted to be a bowler again and it appears that if you think about something hard enough it must come true. Our opening bowling partnership was back in full swing with wickets falling at both ends and hardly a run being scored. When Clifford finally decided to pull Ben and Gaz from the attack Old Boys were in big trouble at 17 for 5 in the 14th over. Craig Trim replaced Ben at the Manawaroa end and bowled a great length as the pitch started to offer some varying bounce. Damian took over from Gaz at the other end but started a little loose and Vipin Nair took advantage by sending him to the boundary. While Dei Hamo (Damian) quickly regained control and put together some tight lines Jed and Vipin still managed to get some boundaries away and found themselves at 43 for 5 at drinks.
Craig Trim continued bowling well after drinks while Kurtis took over from Damian at the other end. Kurts made the breakthrough straight away trapping Vipin in front LBW for well-played 31. That was all Jed needed to decide to go on the attack. After Kurtis got the wicket of Alex Jenkins in the 28th over Jed was joined at the crease by Stephen Wales and together they plundered our bowling attack taking them through to an incredible 154 for 8 with Gaz bowling Jed on the final ball of the innings.

Glennis was supposed to take photos and didn't as usual.
Chasing probably 50 more runs than we would have liked things seemed to get off to a pretty good start with Gaz looking solid and Big Doggs playing some lovely shots and scoring quickly. Liam Watson was the first to make a breakthrough for old boys removing Gaz for 2 and finally it was time for Captain Cliffford to make his way out to the crease. He then made his way back again after being bowled leaving a ball from Scott Mudgway.
After a good innings with the bat Vipin Nair hadn’t finished giving us grief. He came on to bowl and managed to remove 2 of our top batsmen in Aaron Hatton and Kurt Poppe. Barry Harlen then ran himself out and it looked like we might be in some strife. Jamie Lazerjet Print was not concerned though and went about bludgeoning the bowlers to all parts of the ground. A very tidy 14 off 10 from Craig Trim helped the cause before he was caught out trying to go big again off another good ball from Scott Mudgway. Once Ben had finally made his way out to the crease and stopped talking about the interesting cloud formations Lazer told him this wasn’t a pitch for defending. Confused about the prospect of having to play an attacking shot Ben was out, caught behind, defending.

This left us in a real pickle with only 3 wickets left but cometh the hour, cometh the man. Craig Dawson strode up to the crease. With a fire in his eyes long thought extinguished, he put together an innings of indescribable conviction. With 34 runs still required for the win Craig used his trademark shot, the “Creaky Slice”, to get the big hitting Lazerjet back on strike. After putting together a partnership of 27 it looked as if Lazer and Creaky were going to see us home but then tragedy struck. Joe Ward came on to bowl and his 3rd ball got the wicket of Lazerjet.
With flashbacks of the game vs Wanderers 2021 Damian David Donald Darcy Hamo made his way out to join Creaky at the crease. With 8 runs required for the win and Creaky with already a few boundaries under his belt we were still in good shape. Creaky took a quick single to get Damian on strike and he added a couple of singles and a boundary before Joe ward got him out caught with the scores level. That left us very concerned for a ball or two before we won the game from a wide.

Very mixed performance from us first game back with all our bowlers having very good periods with a few bad amongst them. It was great to see how deep our batting can go under pressure and that bodes well for the rest of the season.
MVP- Lazer 3, Gaz 2, Creaky 1
Accelerate Automotive Bloomfield vs Fielding CC
First game of 2022. Runs were got and someone decided it was time to bowl good.
The Trouts first game of the year and we are put up against the fine young bunch from Feilding. Playing on the big lads pitch called Manawaroa 7, a toss was done and won by the Trouts, a good way to kick of the new year.
As any good captain would, Trout took the advice of his peers and put us in to bat. Things didn’t start too well with Jase and Chris opening. Jase skied one early but luckily was dropped, luckily being the key word. A text book catch that went straight through the hands of fielder, we will see what that will cost them. Not long after, Chris feathered one to the keeper after scoring not many, looks like that’s Chris done for the day…. Trout and Jase formed a bit of a typical ‘Bash Bary’ partnership with Trout taking advantage of anything bowled short, working on his hook shot he hooked himself to 41 before Dylan Boyce got him out caught by keeper. Jase kept going and saw a few other batsmen come and go, getting himself through to the teams 1st 50 for the season. His 54 run innings off 34 balls provided entertainment for the Bloomfield supporters on the boundary. A few runs were made here and there by other batsmen but the next highlight was that dude…Greg Morrison. Batting at 10 he came to the crease and T’d off, smacking a quick 25 before a yes/no/yes no call saw him or Matt run out, no one knows. All out on the second to last ball, the lads got us through to 197, easily our highest total of the season.

Jase got 50!
As any good captain would, Trout decided to give someone else a go at opening the bowling. Not at his end though. Trout and Randy started well. Randy bowled well enough that he ended up bowling all 8 on the trot, picking up the vital wickets of Bryan Hill and Flynn McMillan. Everyone had a go at bowling with Chris being the only other successful candidate before drinks, picking up the wicket of Tyler Reay in the 16th then Matt Fox and Matt Evis on the last 2 balls of the 18th over. Rowan kept things quiet in the 20th to lead us in to drinks.
After drinks it only seemed fitting to have Chris open up, meaning the first ball after drinks would be a hat trick ball. Greg did the right thing and howled out an almighty “Beer Ball!!!” from gully, or wherever it is he stands. The field was up, tension was boiling and Chris nails a perfect, late in swinger to nail the batsmen on the pads. Umpire Tyler tried his best to keep his finger down but, even on hat trick ball no umpire could turn that down. Out! A hat trick for Chris and beers for the boys thanks to Greg, that being the teams first successful beer ball.

Sukh doing some stuff.
Feilding never gave up despite the dramatic turn of events with Jack and Johan striking the ball well, Jack made it through to his 50. Unfortunately for them Trout came back on a ended the partnership, finishing Feilding on 158/10, 39 run win for the Trouts. A weeks rest before we face off with the boys from United
