Metalfold Industries Bloomfield Premier 3 vs Dannevirke Black.
14th of January saw us road tripping to Dannevirke to get back into playing for the first time in 2023. A toss win for old Trout and we sent the home side in for a bat.

Opening the bowling was Ben and Gaz who kept things tight. Matty Greig wasn’t sure what to expect when he turned and saw 4 slips in play when he faced up to Gaz, luckily, it never turned out to be that threatening with Gaz only managing to bowl a few outside off. Ben picked up the wicket of Matty Greig to remove the first opener which brought Graeme Harris out to the middle. Knowing what this guy can do we knew we had to be on our game to keep him quiet. He put a few bad balls away, but Jason eventually had him out bowled for 27 runs. We eventually removed the other opener, Taj, for a well-made 21, with a fantastic stumping by Lazer bowled Kurtis. With a flurry of wickets through the middle order, it was the final partnership that proved to be challenging, no-one could get the breakthrough. Much to the disgust of his teammates, Trout could see Steven lingering around in the distance, itching to have a bowl. So, on came The Powerful Pooh Bear (Steven) and second ball in his first over, boom, wicket. Dannevirke all out for 139.
Gaz on club quality control because I have no photos
Our batting innings started as everyone would expect with Jason and Bishtopher getting us off to a good start but once they were out, with a partnership of 60, things went downhill real quick. Bish, Jason and Pilch scored some runs, but it was that man again, The Powerful Pooh Bear, that had a point to prove and showed us how powerful he really is. With an evil death stare in his eye that is enough to make any bowler want to curl up in the fetal position, he batted through, playing Pooh Bear like shots to make sure we didn’t go down without a fight. In the end, his work was enough and after Gaz played a lovely straight drive for 4 after Glennis in his 100th game blocked out an over of destructive bowling to get Gaz back on strike. We chased down the target 9 wickets down and a couple overs to spare.
A Bit of batting work to-do but hopefully we have worked of all that Xmas junk food and put up a good fight against United next week.
MVP- Steven 3, Kurtis 2, Pilch 1.

Accelerate Automotive Bloomfield Premier 4 vs PNBHS 3rd XI
We finally had some sunny cricket weather with a little wind.
We lost the toss but didn’t matter as PNBHS decided they wanted to bat first on the lovely Manawaroa grass wicket provided which was just fine with us.

After a good start from the top order we started to make some in-roads into the Boys High attack.
Max was the only player to score some boundaries but those slowed as our spinners came in and bowled extremely well. After being dropped a few times, Jake finally picked up his first wicket for the club, removing Max for 62.
The going was slow but we kept chipping away and PNBHS all out for 162.
As the chase got underway we didn’t start well losing Greg and George in the first over for ducks. Then we got the innings back on track with Dave and Randy scoring freely. Eventually Randy miss qued a short ball and was caught at square leg for 8.
The reliable Trimmy was next to the wicket and was a master class with the bat once again, scoring 4’s and 6s at will and putting a ball through the YMCA window to bring up his 50. At drinks we were 116/5 and cruising. Then Trimmy went out the next over for well-made 75.

John and Dan finished the innings and we got the total in the 24th over 163/6.
Great game of cricket to start the new year everyone played well.
MVP- 3 Trimmy, 2 Jake, 1 Dan.
