Saturday 4th of February
Metalfold Industries Bloomfield Premier 3 VS Maw Haws.
Waking up on this Saturday morning it was hard to know whether we would be playing or not due to weather again, especially after a torrential downpour Friday night that created Lake MCA in the training facility carpark. Somehow, miraculously, the sun was shining, and the grounds were drying. We were moved from a grass wicket on Ongley to an arti on Panieri. Winning the toss with a tails never fails, we put Maw Haws in to bat. With no Playhq to bounce off, I will do my best to remember how this went.

Ben and Gaz opened for us again with the trademark in and out swing combo. Bowling nice tight lines they were reasonably hard to score off, with most runs coming off gentle little guides past Glennis in gully. Gaz’s second turned out to be a beauty where he picked up the wicket of opener Nate Dogg who only managed to scramble 3 runs then in the final ball of the over, he also got Ricky out on naught, double wicket maiden for Gaz. From there, only a couple of Maw Haws batsmen could get going, with Phil King and Josiah Robinson being the only ones to really score any runs, Phil finishing on 29 after getting bowled by a peach of a delivery from Jason and Josiah top scoring for Maw Haws on 37. Wickets were shared around the bowlers, unfortunately a little sloppy fielding and a few extras helped Maw Haws get on to a reasonably good total of 173.
Coming in to chase we knew they had set a pretty good total and that they had the bowlers to be able to defend it. When chasing was out in the second over chasing a wide one, we were not off to a good start. Trout and Bishtopher noodled the ball around a bit with the odd boundary including a decent 6 from Bish. That was until Bishtopher forgot he was playing cricket and stopped counting butterflies just in time to be bowled by a slow ball from Josiah.
That bought #returnofthejet to the crease where he picked up where Bish left off. He and Trout also played the ball around a bit until Trout then fell into the same mesmerized state as Bish did and got bowled by Simon. Lazer carried on slapping the ball around as did Kurtis, who also smoked a massive 6 over midwicket but tried to hit one too many and ended up being caught out. That man Gaz also had a decent day with the bat and saw a couple wickets fall including Lazers who ended the day top scoring on 39. Unfortunately, we got down to our final 2 batsmen needing about 20 to win. Ben stormed out like a raging bull chasing heifers on heat, not really, but let's pretend he did. Ben and Glen managed to score a few runs, but it wasn’t quite enough to overcome the fierceness of the Maw Haws bowling attack, falling short by 13 runs. Bloomfield all out for 161.
Another hard day at the office but either way whether we won or lost we were in the semis. Now the waiting game begins, while PlayHQ updates etc, to see who we face up against in the semi.
MVP- Gaz 3, Trout 2, Lazer 1.
Scorecard- Not this week, PlayHQ is terrible.

Accelerate Automotive Bloomfield Premier 4 VS Marist CC
A must win game for us vs. Marist, we think, who knows really? PlayHQ certainly doesn’t, but does anyone? I mean what’s life about anyway? Why does Randy have so many bats? What is Craig Dawson? Where do Sanchez’s go after dark? Will Boys High let us keep Lucas? What goes down Dans leg side? If Trimmy’ s bat breaks does Trimmy? And finally, why was it so freaking hot? 1st Innings So, Captain Craig lost the toss and we got to bowl first which was good?

George got us off to a great start nabbing Marist’s opener in the first over but after that we struggled. Yash & Sujay put on 148 for the 2nd wicket finding the boundary regularly, a partnership we only broke when Sujay retired hurt or old or something. We didn’t help ourselves at all throughout the day dropping catches left right and centre including two C&B to Captain Dawson, whose probably lucky he didn’t break his hand in the process. After Sujay’s retirement we did pick up a couple of quick wickets getting Marist from 151/2 to 156/4 but more dropped catches and ½ chances saw Yash Dixit bring up a well deserved 100. Craig Dawson finally ended his innings on 108 but the damage was done and despite a few more wickets Marist got through to 247/7 off their 40 overs. Not as big a total as they were threatening to get but big enough. Our bowling was good – Sanchez the standout on the day with Lucas also putting in a great effort, but a few too many loose deliveries allowed boundaries to flow and a lot of dropped catches (7 or set the tone.

Our innings got off to a controversial start. Lucas had stepped up to umpire as all the old people where sunbathing and ruled Dave Watson not out off a bump ball. His finger didn’t go up, but Marist celebrated anyway and then the arguments started. Dave helped settle things down by getting out a few balls later so no harm no foul, we were 50/50 on whether he was out or not from the side line. George unfortunately went a few balls later and we were 2/19 and not looking good. Full credit to Marist’s bowlers though who were damn good all day long and made it difficult for George or Dave to score.

Murrie & Dan came in and steadied the ship before Dan was out caught. Both also struggled Murrie dropped twice but the dots piled up, and the required run rate shot up to around 10 an over. After Dan got out Randy came in and showed them how it should have been done. 1st ball blocked, 2nd ball over cow for 6 and it just went from there. While Murrie scratched around at one end wondering how Randy was doing it, Randy alternated between smashing the ball over the boundary at the other and blocking those balls he was too bored to give the treatment too. 23 balls later his 7th six went over the boundary and he got to raise his bat for 50. Captain Craig at this point was still eyeing victory at least he was until we told him Randy needed to hit at boundary a ball to get us there. Randy couldn’t carry on though, I think the ball had had enough and decided to get him out for 55 off 30. After that Sanchez scored a couple before we eventually limped to 143 all out after 36 overs, 100 off the target.
Marist well deserved winners on the back of some impressive opening & first change bowling efforts and the batting of Yash and Sujay. We have no idea where this leaves us on the table. Do we have a semifinal? Do we even have a game? Unofficial MVP’s as we didn’t sort it on the day- Randy 3, Lucas 2, Sanchez 1
